Urea Synthesis by Hemic Cells.

چکیده
A method for measuring urea production by isolated erythrocytes and leucocytes under physiologic conditions is described. Erythrocytes from 10 normal subjects formed an average of 82.5 mmoles urea/mi. packed cells/hr. Leucocytes formed 7.4 mmoles urea/108 cells/hr. By extrapolation, total urea synthesis by circulating erythrocytes would be approximately 270 mg./day and by the granulocyte pool approximately 5 mg./day. The total contribution of circulating hemic cells to over-all urea synthesis approximates 1 to 3% on an average protein diet. Six patients with cystinuria were also studied. No defect in urea synthesis, as a reflection of impaired arginine transport, could be detected in their blood cells with the conditions employed.

By JOHN H. BROOKE AND EDWIN E. OSGOOD S TABILiZED STRAINS of rapidly multiplying cells established from peripheral blood or bone marrcw of patients with various hemic disorders, and representing cells of each hemic series, have been the aim of our laboratory for several years. The present communication reports new cell strains (table 1) containing cells derived from monocytic, granulocytic, lym...
متن کاملUrea synthesis by ruminal epithelial and duodenal mucosal cells from growing sheep.
The objective was to determine whether ruminant gut tissues have the capability to synthesize urea in a short-term incubation. Mixed primary cell cultures containing ruminal epithelial (REC) or duodenal mucosal cells (DMC) were isolated from growing sheep (n = 4) fed a mixed forage-concentrate diet. Cells were incubated (90 min) in a Krebs salts-based buffer with either acetate (5 mM) or propio...

Although GPC has long been recognized as a degradation product of phosphatidylcholine, only recently is there wide appreciation of its role as a compatible and counteracting osmolyte that protects cells from osmotic stress. GPC is osmotically regulated in renal cells. Its level varies directly with extracellular osmolality. Cells in the kidney medulla in vivo and in renal epithelial cell cultur...
متن کاملOccurrence of Hemic Neoplasia in Slipper Oyster, Crassostrea iredalei (Faustino, 1928), in Dagupan City, Philippines
Cases of hemic neoplasia in the Philippine slipper oyster (Crassostrea iredalei) have been confirmed from a one-year histology-based disease survey conducted in Dagupan City. Samples were collected on a quarterly basis from the BFAR-NIFTDC demonstration farm and processed for histopathology. Slides were stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H & E) or Feulgen picromethyl blue (FPM) as required. Of...
متن کاملGreen synthesis of nano polypyrrole using urea-hydrogen peroxide
Polypyrrole is one of the most useful conductive polymers, but green synthesis of this polymer has been restricted until now. The objective of the present paper is green synthesis of nano polypyrrole (PPy) by oxidative polymerization using urea-hydrogen peroxide. It was found that conductivity and morphology of polypyrrole are highly dependent on the reaction conditions such as the molar ratio ...
